It is the job of the Commissioner to ensure Manitoba’s election law is complied with and enforced (The Elections Act and The Election Financing Act).
To do this job, the Commissioner has the authority to:
- conduct investigations
- prosecute offences
- apply to the court for injunctions (during an election)
- where a prosecution is not required, issue a formal caution
- enter into compliance agreements
This website outlines the specific processes the Commissioner goes through, provides links to relevant legislation and describes how to notify the Commissioner of a potential contravention of the legislation.
